The sockets are available in S.A.E. or metric sizes. The sockets are designed to go on the outside of the stripped fastener and grab onto it with teeth. They are not designed to grip tight onto the fastener and hold it in place, which means that the teeth can slip and round out a nut or bolt head even more. It is important to use the right size socket to avoid damaging the fastener even further.
