Gaiam DVD Movies Editorial Review
**** Jillian Michaels: For Beginners (Frontside/ Backside Combo) DVD emerges as a robust entry point for individuals looking to embark on their fitness journey. Tailored specifically for beginners, this workout video integrates calisthenic-type exercises that are straightforward and easy to follow. Reviewers appreciate that it avoids the complexity of dance routines, making it accessible even for those unaccustomed to exercise due to poor coordination or clumsiness. A significant advantage of this DVD is the instructional approach. Jillian's absence from directly performing the exercises allows viewers to focus on the actions of a demonstrator while benefiting from Jillian's commentary on proper form and the purpose behind each move. This format not only clarifies techniques but also mitigates the risk of injury through improper execution, which is particularly valuable for novices. The structured six-circuit format for both the front and back-side routines is designed for gradual progression, accommodating those who have been away from physical activity for an extended period. Many users found success with merely five sessions a week over two weeks, leading to noticeable results. However, some buyers indicated that certain exercises might be overly challenging for absolute beginners. Additionally, the lack of background music and Jillian's intense demeanor drew mixed reactions; while some found motivation in her directness, others felt it hampered their enjoyment of the workout experience. Overall, Jillian Michaels' workout DVD holds a favorable position for those seeking an uncomplicated and effective introduction to fitness, though it may not resonate equally with everyone based on individual preferences and fitness levels. **
