- Homerosun ölümsüz eseri Odysseia, Antik Yunan edebiyatının İlyadadan sonra en büyük ikinci destanıdır. Odysseianın bilinen en eski kaydı MÖ 6. yüzyılda Peisistratosun emriyle Atinada yapılandır. Destan, rapsodi adı verilen 24 bölüme ayrılır ve 12.000 dizede anlatılır. Troya Savaşının kahramanı ve İthake Kralı Odysseusun macera dolu vatana dönüş öyküsünü ve karısı Penelopeia ile evlenmek isteyen talipleri öldürmesini anlatan Odysseia, Odysseusun Ogygie adasındaki esareti ile başlar. Odysseianın edebi değeri tüm dünya tarafından tartışmasız kabul görmektedir.
